Job Purpose

The successful candidates will assist with the preparation and serving of food to patients while maintaining appropriate health, hygiene, cleanliness, stock-handling and food-service standards within the hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Food Service Aid will be responsible for:

Preparing and serving food to patients according to health and hygiene standards.
Working shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Assisting with the effective and economical operation of the food-service unit.
Operating kitchen equipment and apparatus correctly to prevent damage and breakages.
Placing internal requisitions (VA2) according to schedules.
Assisting with receiving stock.
Checking the quality and quantity of received stock.
Packing supplies correctly in designated storage areas.
Maintaining storage areas in accordance with the cleaning programme.
Performing routine food-service duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

Grade 10 or ABET Certificate.
Basic literacy skills.
Basic numeracy skills.
Ability to perform routine tasks.
Ability to operate kitchen equipment and machinery.
Good command of English.
Ability to work under pressure.
Sound interpersonal relations.
