What You Will Learn During the Apprenticeship
Successful apprentices will receive extensive technical exposure and practical training in various engineering and mechanical disciplines. Training areas may include:
- Mechanical fitting
- Electrical systems
- Heavy equipment maintenance
- Engineering workshop operations
- Hydraulic systems
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Preventative maintenance

Key Duties & Responsibilities
As an apprentice, your responsibilities may include:
- Observing and learning technical repair and maintenance procedures
- Assisting skilled technicians with equipment servicing and repairs
- Completing practical and theoretical apprentice modules
- Maintaining training records and apprenticeship logbooks
- Following strict workplace health and safety regulations
- Ensuring workshop tools and equipment remain clean and operational
- Participating in team-based engineering activities
- Developing professional workplace behaviour and communication skills
- Supporting general workshop housekeeping and maintenance
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for the apprenticeship program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Educational Requirements
- Grade 12 / N3 qualification
- Mathematics or Technical Mathematics (Mathematics Literacy will not be accepted)
- Physical Science or Technical Science
- N3 Electrical Trade Theory and/or
- N3 Fitter Trade Theory and/or
- N3 Mechanotechnology
Additional Requirements
- Must currently be unemployed
- Strong interest in engineering and technical trades
- Willingness to learn and work in demanding environments
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures
