SAP Basis/HANA Administrator Vacancy

Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for the position of SAP Basis/HANA Administrator in Durban.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, upgrades, administration, maintenance and performance management of SAP systems and databases within the TPT SAP environment.

Key Responsibilities

The SAP Basis/HANA Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Implementing and maintaining multiple SAP instances within the TPT SAP environment.
  • Installing, administering and supporting DB2/HANA databases.
  • Monitoring database performance and carrying out performance tuning.
  • Managing SAP security administration and batch jobs.
  • Managing SAP users, authorisations and profiles.
  • Ensuring backups are completed and conducting restore testing.
  • Performing SAP client administration, including client creation, copying, deletion and export/import.
  • Participating in SAP system upgrades and implementations.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation for SAP instances and interfaces.
  • Providing management with status reports on BASIS administration activities.
  • Planning and implementing SAP patches and security upgrades.
  • Ensuring compliance with audit and security requirements.
  • Monitoring critical system resources.
  • Managing transport migrations.
  • Maintaining database performance and conducting ongoing fine-tuning.
  • Performing control checks and supporting compliance requirements.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A relevant qualification or National Diploma (NQF Level 6/7) in Technical/IT/Computer Science, or a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Alternatively, a BCom qualification with relevant SAP experience.
  • At least 5 years’ SAP application support experience.
  • Preferably 1 year of supervisory or specialist experience.
  • Sound knowledge of SAP integration areas.
  • Additional SAP skills in cross-functional areas and technologies.
  • Relevant SAP certification will be advantageous.

Candidates With a Lower Qualification

Applicants with an NQF Level 5 relevant qualification may be considered where they have:

  • At least 6 years’ relevant and solid experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience at managerial or specialist level.

Required Knowledge

Candidates should have strong knowledge of:

  • SAP ECC 6.0.
  • SAP Solution Manager.
  • IBM DB2 administration.
  • SAP HANA.
  • Oracle databases.
  • AIX operating system.
  • Tivoli Storage Management.
  • Tape backup and recovery.
  • Schema and storage structure management.
