Job Overview

Ampath Laboratories is seeking experienced and motivated Accounts Receivable Officer II (Collectors) to join its Western Cape Accounts Receivable Department in Cape Town.

The successful candidates will be responsible for collecting outstanding debt, maintaining customer accounts, processing financial transactions, resolving account queries, and ensuring accurate financial records. This position is ideal for professionals who enjoy customer interaction, negotiation, financial administration, and working towards collection targets in a professional healthcare environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful applicants will be expected to:

  • Collect outstanding customer debt professionally and efficiently.
  • Contact customers regarding overdue accounts.
  • Manage inbound and outbound collections.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Follow up on unpaid accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve account queries.
  • Process customer payments accurately.
  • Perform account reconciliations.
  • Update customer account information.
  • Maintain accurate financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare collection reports where required.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Escalate unresolved matters appropriately.
  • Meet monthly collection and recovery targets.
  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times.
  • Support the Accounts Receivable team with administrative duties.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • Grade 12 (Mathematics or Accounting is essential)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Accounts Receivable environment
  • Debt collection experience
  • Experience handling inbound and outbound collections
  • Healthcare industry experience will be advantageous
  • Computer literacy
  • Typing speed of at least 45 words per minute
  • Valid communication skills in English
