Purpose of the Internship
The RAF is committed to youth skills development and provides graduates with an opportunity to gain practical work-based experience.
Successful interns will be exposed to various aspects of claims management and legal processes within the Road Accident Fund.
The programme is intended for unemployed graduates between the ages of 18 and 25 who meet the qualification and eligibility requirements.
A verification process will be conducted to determine whether applicants have previously worked anywhere in South Africa.

Key Work-Based Learning Areas
Depending on the department, interns may receive exposure to:
- Assessment and management of claims
- Preparing memorandums and summaries
- Checking correspondence
- Investigating claims relating to civil and other damages
- Drafting pleadings, applications and court processes
- Assessing damages in civil matters
- Assessing injuries and reviewing medico-legal reports
- Reviewing quantum-related documentation and employment records
- Taking instructions from superiors
- Preparing files following instructions
- Communicating with counsel, attorneys, experts, investigators and other stakeholders
- Consulting with attorneys
- Preparing memorandums relating to the management of claims and legal processes
- Managing court processes, including summonses and writs
- Performing administrative duties related to legal processes
- Negotiating with attorneys regarding bills of costs
- Implementing directives and policies
- Preparing reconciliations for attorneys
- Gaining an understanding of legal costs within the RAF
- Performing ad hoc duties and assigned tasks
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate
- A B Degree in LLB, BA Law or Diploma in Law

Remuneration
Interns will receive a monthly stipend for the duration of the internship programme.
