Job Overview
Fidelity Services Group is recruiting for a Mechanic Assistant at its Parow Branch in Cape Town. The successful candidate will report directly to the Fleet Manager and provide practical support with vehicle servicing, maintenance and general workshop activities.
This is a permanent position within the Fidelity Cash Solutions division and is suitable for a mechanically experienced candidate who can work effectively as part of a fleet and workshop team.

Job Purpose
The primary purpose of the Mechanic Assistant position is to provide hands-on assistance to the mechanic and support the effective maintenance and servicing of the company’s vehicle fleet.
The successful candidate will assist with routine vehicle maintenance, servicing, basic workshop activities and other mechanical tasks as directed. The role requires someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, organised and able to work under operational pressure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Mechanic Assistant may be responsible for:
- Assisting the mechanic with vehicle servicing and repairs.
- Performing routine and day-to-day vehicle maintenance.
- Assisting with inspections and identifying basic vehicle maintenance requirements.
- Supporting preventative maintenance activities.
- Assisting with basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Preparing vehicles and equipment for servicing.
- Assisting with basic workshop duties.
- Keeping the workshop and work areas organised and clean.
- Using workshop tools and equipment appropriately.
- Following instructions from the mechanic and Fleet Manager.
- Supporting the fleet maintenance team with operational requirements.
- Performing standby duties when required.
- Working shifts and overtime when operationally necessary.
- Following company health, safety and operational procedures.
- Maintaining accurate and quality-focused work.
- Reporting mechanical or vehicle-related issues to the relevant supervisor.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Clear criminal record.
- 2–5 years’ experience in mechanical work.
- Practical knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
- Experience working with Hino 300s, Hilux D4D vehicles, Chevrolets and MP200s will be an advantage.
- Valid driver’s licence, preferably Code 10.
- Own transport will be an advantage.
- Willingness to work shifts.
- Willingness to work irregular hours and overtime.
- Willingness to perform standby duties.
Advantageous Experience
Candidates with experience working on commercial vehicles, fleet vehicles or similar vehicle types may be particularly suited to this position.
Experience with the vehicle types specified by Fidelity Services Group — Hino 300, Hilux D4D, Chevrolet and MP200 — will provide an additional advantage.
