About the Project Assistant, Air & Sea Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing global Air, Sea and Road shipments for a specific Oil & Gas project in Africa. The role covers the full shipment process, from receiving and coordinating cargo through to final project close-out.

The position requires strong knowledge of freight forwarding, logistics, clearing processes and international shipments, with experience in Africa and Oil & Gas logistics being highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage global shipments associated with the project.
  • Coordinate Air, Sea and Road freight movements.
  • Ensure timely dispatch of Air and Sea freight shipments to clients in Angola.
  • Manage shipments from receipt through to project close-out.
  • Ensure timely billing and cost recovery.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external clients.
  • Fulfil all required shipping and project documentation.
  • Identify potential project risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Apply and manage DSV Credit Risk Policy requirements.
  • Stand in for other members of the project team when required.
  • Maintain accurate and process-oriented project administration.
  • Ensure project activities are completed according to required procedures and deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
  • 5–7 years of experience in the freight forwarding industry.
  • At least 3 years of experience using CargoWise 1 or a similar customs programme.
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding, logistics and clearing processes.
  • Experience and knowledge of African logistics operations is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of relevant African shipping and customs documentation is advantageous.
  • Diploma or BCom in Logistics is advantageous.

Computer Skills

Candidates should have:

  • Basic computer operating skills, with intermediate skills preferred.
  • Microsoft Office 365.
  • Microsoft Teams.
  • OneNote.
  • Forms.
  • Microsoft Word.
  • Microsoft Excel.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Outlook.
  • CargoWise.
  • C2C or similar logistics/customs systems.
