About the Role

As a Courier | Admin Clerk, you will be responsible for the safe and timely collection and delivery of medical specimens, laboratory reports, parcels, stock, and request forms between healthcare facilities and Ampath laboratories. You will also perform administrative duties, maintain company vehicles and equipment, and provide professional customer service to clients.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring laboratory samples are transported correctly and that test results reach healthcare professionals on time, supporting quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and deliver pathology specimens safely and within required timeframes.
  • Transport laboratory reports, medical supplies, stock, and documentation.
  • Complete delivery records and administrative documentation accurately.
  • Maintain company vehicles in a clean and roadworthy condition.
  • Report vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Ensure specimens are transported according to laboratory safety procedures.
  • Build professional relationships with doctors, clinics, hospitals, and healthcare staff.
  • Provide feedback regarding delivery routes and client requirements.
  • Follow company policies, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality standards.
  • Assist with general office administration when required.
  • Ensure accurate handling of request forms and laboratory documentation.
  • Represent Ampath professionally at all times.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Valid South African driver’s licence (Code B and A)
  • Minimum 1 year of general driving experience
  • 3–5 years of administration experience within a medical or healthcare environment
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Good telephone etiquette
