About the YES Programme

The Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme is a national initiative launched by the Presidency in partnership with the private sector to combat youth unemployment. Through this programme, Eskom provides unemployed young people with valuable workplace experience, practical skills, and professional exposure to help them build successful careers.

The programme offers participants an opportunity to gain real-world work experience in one of South Africa’s largest and most respected state-owned enterprises. Although the programme does not guarantee permanent employment, the experience gained significantly improves future employment prospects.

Purpose of the Programme

The programme aims to:

  • Provide unemployed youth with practical workplace experience.
  • Improve employability through skills development.
  • Introduce participants to a professional work environment.
  • Develop workplace ethics and communication skills.
  • Prepare participants for future career opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Be between 18 and 34 years old.
  • Have a Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Be unemployed at the time of application.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must also:

  • Not have been permanently employed by one employer for more than 12 consecutive months.
  • Not be studying full-time during the contract period.
  • Never have participated in or registered for the Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme before.
  • Be willing to work at Camden Power Station in Mpumalanga.
  • Successfully complete Eskom’s recruitment and selection process.

Working Environment
