Purpose of the Role
The QA/QC Assistant is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance and repair work performed on company petrol and diesel vehicles meets Sasol’s quality, safety, manufacturer, and regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will inspect completed work, verify repair quality, support workshop planning, monitor contractor performance, manage quality documentation, and help improve workshop processes while ensuring excellent customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
As a QA/QC Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
Quality Assurance & Vehicle Inspections
- Conduct comprehensive inspections on petrol and diesel vehicles during and after repairs.
- Perform workshop quality hold-point inspections.
- Inspect customer vehicles before final release.
- Ensure all repairs meet OEM specifications.
- Verify compliance with company quality standards.
Workshop Quality Control
- Review and approve maintenance work completed by artisans.
- Monitor workmanship quality.
- Ensure proper diagnostic procedures are followed.
- Confirm correct tools and equipment are used.
- Verify genuine or approved replacement parts.
Documentation & Administration
- Prepare quality inspection reports.
- Maintain QA/QC documentation.
- Complete inspection checklists.
- Update workshop service records.
- Process SAP confirmations.
- Compile maintenance reports.
- Maintain service logs.
Contractor & Service Provider Management
- Evaluate external workshop performance.
- Compile scopes of work for outsourced repairs.
- Validate repair costs against approved work scopes.
- Approve completed external repair work.
- Ensure contractor compliance with quality requirements.
Operational Support
- Coordinate daily workshop activities.
- Assist with maintenance planning.
- Support scheduling of repair work.
- Conduct monthly IMS inspections.
- Work closely with operations and suppliers.
Customer Service
- Explain inspection findings to customers.
- Resolve quality-related concerns.
- Build customer confidence through transparent communication.
- Ensure repairs meet customer expectations.
Continuous Improvement
- Recommend improvements to workshop processes.
- Support implementation of new repair technologies.
- Identify recurring defects and preventative solutions.
- Promote a culture of quality and safety.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) with Mathematics.
- Qualified Trade Test as a Petrol or Diesel Mechanic.
Experience Required
Candidates should possess:
- At least 5 years’ experience as a qualified artisan.
- 2–3 years’ experience in QA/QC within vehicle maintenance.
- Experience inspecting petrol and diesel vehicles.
- Hands-on diagnostic and fault-finding experience.
- Experience supervising repair quality.
- Experience working with service providers.
- Valid Code 14 driver’s licence.
- QA/QC certification (advantageous).
