Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification
  • Transport maintenance or technical mechanical training (advantageous)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar tyre fitting or tyre maintenance role
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proactive, reliable and safety-conscious attitude

Key Responsibilities

As a Tyre Attendant, you will:

  • Inspect tyres, rims, hubs, studs and wheel components for wear, cracks and damage
  • Check tyre pressure according to manufacturer specifications
  • Rotate tyres to extend tyre lifespan
  • Repair punctures and perform roadside tyre repairs
  • Remove and install vehicle wheels using hand and power tools
  • Mount and remount tyres safely
  • Prepare, clean and paint wheel rims
  • Inspect tyre casings for defects
  • Conduct monthly tyre tread (mm) audits
  • Raise vehicles safely using hydraulic jacks
  • Maintain weekly tyre stock levels
  • Ensure safe storage of new tyres
  • Dispose of scrap tyres and metal responsibly
  • Assist mechanics with workshop maintenance when required
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop

  • Strong mechanical knowledge
