The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is inviting applications for 11 Claims Internship positions in Cape Town, Western Cape. This 18-month graduate internship offers unemployed young law graduates the opportunity to gain practical legal experience in one of South Africa’s leading public entities responsible for compensating victims of motor vehicle accidents.

  • Legal Administration Department – 3 Posts
  • Onboarding Department – 3 Posts
  • Merits Department – 1 Post
  • Offer Management Department – 2 Posts

What You Will Learn

Interns will receive structured workplace training and exposure to:

  • Assessing and processing accident claims
  • Investigating civil and personal injury claims
  • Preparing legal memorandums, reports and summaries
  • Drafting pleadings and other legal documents
  • Reviewing medico-legal reports and employment records
  • Quantifying damages and compensation claims
  • Consulting with attorneys, advocates and legal experts
  • Managing court processes, summonses and legal files
  • Preparing reconciliation documents for attorneys
  • Negotiating legal costs and bills of costs
  • Implementing RAF policies and legal directives
  • General legal administration and case management
  • Working within court deadlines and legal procedures

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • LLB Degree, BA Law or Diploma in Law
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified Matric certificate
  • Certified academic transcript
  • Updated CV
  • Motivational letter
