Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 with Mathematics

Advantageous Qualifications

  • Code B or EC Driver’s Licence
  • Competent A & Blasting Assistant Certificate (MQA)

Experience Required

  • 1 year experience in a blasting or mining environment
  • 1 year experience as a blasting assistant

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Assist the truck operator with collecting and delivering blasting products
  • Support blasting operations and charging of blast holes
  • Conduct workplace risk assessments and safe work declarations
  • Prepare blast and charge-up areas according to legal and client requirements
  • Inspect drilling holes and verify measurements and depths
  • Assist with blast preparation, priming, and detonator placement
  • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, refill areas, and workspaces
  • Communicate deviations or safety concerns to mine staff and supervisors
  • Perform additional operational duties when required
