JOB PURPOSE

The Receiving & Dispatch Clerk ensures the accurate movement of stock in and out of the Sauce Plant. You will play a critical role in verifying deliveries, preparing outbound orders, maintaining stock integrity, and supporting warehouse efficiency from receipt to dispatch.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving Operations

  • Receive, verify, and process all incoming stock against purchase orders and delivery documents
  • Check goods for quality issues including damage, temperature compliance, expiry dates, and labelling accuracy
  • Capture receiving transactions accurately into systems and complete Goods Received Vouchers
  • Report and escalate discrepancies, shortages, or damaged stock immediately

Stock Control & Storage

  • Allocate and organise stock into correct storage locations
  • Maintain FIFO/FEFO principles for full traceability and stock rotation
  • Assist with stock counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities
  • Ensure accurate stock movement records at all times

Dispatch Operations

  • Pick, stage, and verify outgoing orders according to dispatch schedules
  • Confirm stock accuracy before loading and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare pallets for transport (wrapping, labelling, securing)
  • Ensure correct completion of dispatch paperwork including PODs, waybills, and delivery notes

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain strict GMP, hygiene, and food safety standards at all times
  • Keep warehouse areas clean, organised, and obstruction-free
  • Follow PPE requirements, safety protocols, and reporting procedures
  • Report hazards, incidents, and equipment faults immediately
  • Operate forklift safely if licensed and authorised

  • Problem-solving mindset when dealing with stock discrepancies

REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in warehouse, FMCG, logistics, or distribution (receiving/dispatch)
  • Basic understanding of warehouse operations and stock control
  • Computer literacy or WMS exposure advantageous
  • Knowledge of food safety and GMP standards
  • Valid forklift licence (advantageous; required if operating equipment)

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced distribution centre environment
  • Exposure to cold storage, production areas, and loading bays
  • Shift work may be required depending on operational needs
  • Strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and operational procedures
