Student Accounts Controller Job Description

The Student Accounts Controller will manage student debtors, handle account queries, process payments, and support student re-registration and enrolment finance administration.

The successful candidate will work closely with students, recruitment teams, and Head Office to ensure accurate financial processing and debt collection.


Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Responding to student account queries within 24 hours
  • Following up on outstanding student debt
  • Managing the student debtors book to reduce debtor days
  • Contacting bad debtors weekly
  • Updating weekly spreadsheets and reports
  • Assisting with student re-registration and enrolment finance administration
  • Collecting new debit orders
  • Processing redeposit payments
  • Preparing and sending pro forma invoices and statements
  • Following up on debit order payments
  • Managing swipe machine transactions
  • Sending financial transaction records to Head Office
  • Compiling refund documentation for processing


Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

Qualifications

  • Accounting-related degree or relevant qualification

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in debt collection
  • At least 5 years’ administration experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Higher Education preferred

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Pastel
  • Computer literate
  • Experience with Acumatica advantageous

Working Hours

This is a full-time position operating Monday to Friday:

  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30 – 17:00
  • Friday: 08:30 – 16:00
