ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The Energy Apprentice Programme forms part of the Support Services Energy Directorate. It is designed for individuals passionate about the electrical trade who want to gain formal workplace training and practical exposure.

This opportunity is strictly for candidates who are not yet trade-qualified and want to enter the electrical field.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

You must have one of the following:

Option 1: NTC 3 with

  • Electrical Trade Theory
  • Mathematics
  • Engineering Science
  • Industrial Electronics
    OR another Heavy Current subject with Matric

OR

Option 2:

  • English
  • Electrical Trade Theory
  • Mathematics
  • Physical Science
  • One additional subject

OR

Option 3:

  • Full NCV 4 Electrical qualification (7 subjects)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong interest in the electrical field
  • Must reside within the City of Cape Town Metropole
  • Valid driver’s licence (Code C1 / old Code 10 recommended)
  • Not trade-qualified
  • No National S Diploma or higher qualification

Important: Candidates with medical conditions that may negatively impact participation (e.g., epilepsy or colour blindness) will not be considered.
