About the Role
The Production Clerk will provide administrative and operational support during a designated shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate production records, monitoring production activities, capturing shift data, supporting inventory control, and ensuring that required documentation is properly maintained.
The role is important in helping the production team maintain smooth, accurate, safe and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Record hourly and daily production output accurately.
- Capture production statistics, downtime, material usage and scrap/waste quantities.
- Enter shift information into relevant production management systems.
- Prepare and maintain accurate production data and reports.
- Monitor raw material and finished goods levels.
- Report stock shortages, discrepancies and other inventory concerns.
- Ensure stock sheets accurately reflect finished goods transferred to the warehouse.
- Support compliance with workplace safety procedures and quality standards.
- Report incidents, hazards and non-conformances immediately.
- Communicate effectively with operators, supervisors and other departments.
- Relay instructions and escalate operational issues when necessary.
- Maintain shift logs, daily statistics and quality control documentation.
- File forklift checklists and other production-related records.
- Assist with stock takes and cycle counts.
- Perform basic administrative duties as assigned.
- Be prepared to run a shift when required by the Production Manager in the absence of the Shift Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the Production Clerk position, applicants should have:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is preferred.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent accuracy in record-keeping and data capturing.
- Ability to follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Good organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliability and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
