Laundry Worker Level 2 – Gauteng Department of Health

The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting applications for 16 Laundry Worker Level 2 positions at Chris Hani Baragwanath Laundry.

This is an entry-level opportunity for candidates with AET Level 4 or an equivalent Grade 10 qualification. No previous experience is required.

Requirements

Applicants must have:

AET Level 4 or equivalent qualification, such as Grade 10.
No previous experience is required.
Basic understanding of Batho Pele Principles.
Basic knowledge of the Patients’ Rights Charter.
Basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good organisational and planning abilities.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
High level of reliability and professionalism.
Ability to take initiative.
Good customer service skills.
Knowledge of labour relations processes will be advantageous.
Experience in a similar environment or health entity will be an added advantage.
Willingness to undergo continuous training and development.
Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

Collecting and receiving soiled linen from health institutions.
Sorting soiled linen according to different categories.
Preparing linen for washing.
Preparing items for ironing, pressing and folding.
Conveying finished linen for quality checks.
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Wearing the required uniform and laundry identification.
Assisting with general laundry management functions.
Supporting effective and efficient laundry services.
Attending meetings, workshops and approved training.
Following supervisors’ lawful and reasonable instructions.
Completing tasks within required timelines.
Participating in performance management processes.
Performing other duties allocated by the supervisor.
