ABOUT THE ROLE

The Community Advisor plays an important frontline role in creating positive customer experiences and supporting FNB’s commitment to customer-centric banking.

The position involves engaging directly with customers, understanding their financial service needs, processing requests accurately, and ensuring that customers receive prompt and professional assistance.

The successful candidate will also contribute to business growth by supporting sales initiatives, identifying opportunities to introduce customers to relevant products and services, encouraging digital banking adoption, and helping to grow the active customer base.

This role requires someone who can balance customer service, sales support, administration, accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate may be responsible for the following:

Customer Service

  • Welcome and assist customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Serve customers promptly and efficiently.
  • Listen carefully to customers and understand their individual needs.
  • Provide appropriate assistance and information based on customer requirements.
  • Process customer requests accurately and within required service timelines.
  • Maintain high standards of customer service in line with FNB expectations.
  • Resolve or escalate customer queries appropriately.

Sales and Business Growth

  • Support activities designed to achieve predetermined sales targets.
  • Identify customer needs and recognise suitable opportunities to introduce relevant FNB products and services.
  • Identify and maximise cross-selling opportunities.
  • Assist with growing the active customer account base.
  • Contribute towards net profit growth through effective sales and service support.
  • Track and monitor sales activities and performance.
  • Support customer engagement initiatives that contribute to business growth.

Digital and Self-Service Banking

  • Encourage customers to use digital banking solutions where appropriate.
  • Assist customers in moving from traditional banking transactions to self-service and digital channels.
  • Help customers understand and make use of convenient digital banking options.
  • Promote customer confidence in using self-service solutions.
  • Support FNB’s digital enablement objectives by helping customers adopt suitable digital services.

Administration and Operations

  • Complete administrative duties accurately and efficiently.
  • Plan and organise daily activities to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and information.
  • Provide timely updates and reports as required.
  • Check and verify transactions on a daily basis.
  • Ensure new business applications are accurately processed and closed within required timelines.
  • Produce reliable sales and service statistics for management reporting and decision-making.
  • Monitor service activities and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.

Compliance and Governance

  • Comply with all applicable governance and legislative requirements.
  • Follow relevant audit requirements and internal controls.
  • Adhere to FNB’s policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Consistently follow the FNB Golden Rules.
  • Maintain accuracy and confidentiality when handling customer information and transactions.
  • Escalate issues in accordance with established procedures.
  • Take accountability for ensuring that all assigned responsibilities are completed correctly and on time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

Applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 as a minimum qualification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

The following qualification would be advantageous:

  • NQF Level 5 Certificate in Banking
  • Business Administration
  • Customer Service
  • A related qualification recognised by FAIS

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

Candidates should ideally have:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a customer-facing environment.
  • Experience in customer service, client support, service delivery, or financial services will be advantageous.
  • Experience working towards sales or service targets may be beneficial.
  • Experience dealing directly with customers and handling queries is an advantage.
