Job Purpose

The Business Banker will provide a sales and service function within the Business Centre by managing and growing a portfolio of business clients. The successful candidate will identify customer needs, recommend suitable banking products, prepare credit applications, and deliver financial solutions that support business growth while ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, manage, and expand a portfolio of business banking clients.
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with business customers.
  • Identify business opportunities and recommend appropriate banking products and financial solutions.
  • Prepare, analyse, and motivate business credit applications.
  • Conduct financial analysis using financial statements, balance sheets, and financial ratios.
  • Assess credit risk and evaluate collateral provided by clients.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while achieving sales and growth targets.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities for cross-selling.
  • Maintain compliance with banking legislation, internal policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Control costs and contribute to the profitability of the business portfolio.
  • Keep accurate customer records and ensure all documentation meets regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed about competitor products and market developments.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma in Commerce or Finance.
  • At least 3 years’ banking experience.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of business banking customers.
  • Experience in customer relationship management.
  • Experience in financial analysis.
  • Experience preparing and motivating credit applications.
  • Knowledge of cost control and sales management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • FAIS accredited as a Key Individual and approved by the FSCA.
  • At least 1 year of Business Banking experience preparing and motivating credit applications.
  • Additional experience in commercial or business banking environments will be advantageous.

  • Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA).
  • Competitor banking products and services.
  • Taxation principles applicable to business customers (advantageous).
  • Business banking administration processes.
