Kumba Iron Ore               

We produce high-grade iron ore, the key component in steel widely used in construction and manufacturing across the world. Our activities include all aspects – exploration; mining; processing and blending; shipping; marketing and selling. In South Africa, we have mining operations in the Northern Cape province, as well as a head office in Centurion, Gauteng, and a port operation in Saldanha Bay, Western Cape.

Job Description:

As our Driverof your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Safety, Health, and Environment
  • Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental practices and requirements.
  • SHE policies and procedures:
  • Escalate all unsafe practices or risks to the direct supervisor/manager.
  • Support good housekeeping in the department and on-site to ensure compliance.
  • Performance and Delivery
  • Equipment and Machinery Movement
  • Assist in the safe loading, moving, and shifting of equipment and components as instructed, in such a manner as to prevent any damage to assets or injury to people.
  • Ensure correct lifting equipment and tools are selected when executing a task to comply with the necessary procedures, specifications, requirements, and timeframe.
  • Equipment Inspection
  • Check that all equipment is available at the commencement of the shift and escalate when not.
  • Inspect all equipment for functionality and safety before commencing with the task to prevent damage and injury and to adhere to required safety standards.
  • Report equipment and component deviations to the Supervisor to ensure defects are followed up and attended to
  • Assistance
  • Liaise with relevant personnel to arrange assistance regarding resources required (equipment and people) to ensure successful task execution.
  • Assist Supervisor and co-workers according to own level/area of competence and by company policies when instructed.
  • Pre-Shift Inspections
  • Do pre-shift inspections of vehicles, equipment, machines, machine parts, and components to check functionality and safety, prevent injuries and damage to assets, and ensure that operations occur within prescribed processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Continuously observe and monitor equipment/vehicle performance against standards to identify non-conformances or deviations and escalate to the direct Supervisor to ensure defects are followed up and attended to

This role is in Various (refer to published OrgStructure) department on a band J6 level reporting to the Transport Coordinator/Planning Advisor

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12
  • SA Drivers License
  • Technical

Vehicle / Equipment components and functionality.

Basic interpretations and understanding of manufacturing standards, component drawings, blueprints, and shop manuals.

Operational experience in Maintenance.

Technical Skills

Communication skills.

  • Time Management and organising skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in English and any local language/s as deemed appropriate for the position.
