ABOUT THE APPRENTICESHIP

The purpose of the position is to provide structured training and development to an individual who wants to build a career as an Instrument Technician.

The successful candidate will be expected to learn, develop technical competencies and gain an understanding of instrumentation and maintenance within the workplace. The role is suited to candidates who are interested in technical work, industrial equipment, maintenance and engineering-related careers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As an Apprentice – Instrument Tech, your duties and development may include:

• Undergoing structured training to acquire knowledge and practical skills as an Instrument Technician. • Learning and gaining an understanding of instrumentation-related maintenance activities. • Developing an understanding of equipment maintenance and workplace processes. • Participating in the apprenticeship programme in accordance with applicable SETA requirements. • Following all company policies, procedures and workplace standards. • Complying with all occupational health and safety requirements. • Adhering to environmental procedures and relevant legislation. • Supporting the company’s Zero Harm principles and maintaining a strong safety culture. • Working collaboratively with experienced employees and team members during training. • Demonstrating a willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge throughout the apprenticeship.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate is essential. • Mathematics must have been taken as a subject. • Science must have been taken as a subject. • Basic computer skills. • An interest in instrumentation, maintenance and technical work. • Willingness to undergo training and learn new technical skills.
