Job Description
AVBOB is looking for an individual with excellent client-service skills to join the Client Service Centre in Bellville as a Senior Clerk.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to policyholders and ensuring that clients’ requests are processed efficiently and accurately within the required timeframes.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform general reception duties and welcome clients.
- Receive and assist walk-in clients with enquiries according to client-service policies and procedures.
- Refer clients to the relevant department when necessary.
- Use available resources to obtain the knowledge and skills required to handle enquiries.
- Explain processes, delays and system problems to waiting clients.
- Handle general claims, policy services and premium administration.
- Handle petty cash.
- Collect premium payments and process premium refunds.
- Prepare cash for daily banking with the Finance Department.
- Refer new business to the relevant consultant.
- Handle fraud allegations and complaints.
- Prepare weekly and monthly statistical reports.
- Perform general office duties.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Category B FAIS accreditation.
- 140 Long-Term Insurance credits.
- A suitable industry-entry qualification that meets FSCA requirements.
- Compliance with FAIS legislation and Fit and Proper requirements.
- Clear ITC.
- Clear criminal record.
- RE5 Certificate.
FAIS Requirements
Applicants who entered the industry:
- 2004–2007: 30 credits on NQF Level 4 obtained by 31 December 2009.
- 2008–2009: 30 or 60 credits on NQF Level 4 obtained by 31 December 2011, or a full FAIS-recognised qualification obtained by 31 December 2013.
- 2010 onwards: A full FAIS-recognised qualification is required.
Experience Required
- 2–3 years’ experience in the Life Assurance industry.
- Preferably experience in a client-service or policy-maintenance environment.
- 2–3 years’ administration experience.
- Experience with the AVBOB production system will be an advantage.
