Department of Home Affairs Cadet Learnership Programme 2026/27 – Grade 12 | R4,500 Stipend

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) is inviting unemployed South African youth to apply for the Cadet Learnership Programme 2026/27.

The 12-month programme combines theoretical learning with practical workplace experience and is aimed at developing skills relevant to the Department’s operations, particularly Immigration Services.

Successful candidates will receive a R4,500 monthly stipend for the duration of the learnership.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be an unemployed young South African.
  • Have a National Senior Certificate (Matric).
  • Be willing to participate in the full 12-month programme.
  • Be willing to complete theoretical and practical workplace training.
  • Be willing to work and learn within the Department of Home Affairs environment.
  • Be prepared to undergo pre-employment screening and security checks if selected.

Applicants who have previously participated in a Public Service Youth Development Programme covered by the applicable government directive may not be eligible.

Applicants who are currently receiving government financial assistance for another youth development programme may also not be eligible.

The Department expects a large number of applications and may not acknowledge individual applications in writing.

The learnership is a 12-month contract and does not automatically lead to permanent employment with the Department of Home Affairs.
