Job Purpose

The Senior Administrator will be responsible for the effective execution of retirement fund administration in accordance with business, legislative and industry requirements. The role focuses on delivering accurate administration, resolving complex queries and improving the overall client experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve escalated claims and ensure queries are processed within required timeframes.
  • Monitor adherence to service level agreements.
  • Coach and guide administrators on processes and procedures.
  • Oversee retirement fund daily processing, including contribution processing and management of defaults in line with Section 13A of the Pension Funds Act.
  • Guide administrators on death claims processing in line with Section 37 of the Pension Funds Act.
  • Resolve complex member and employer queries efficiently.
  • Perform reconciliations on member transactions.
  • Assist administrators with their day-to-day functions.
  • Support the Administration Manager with daily oversight of the administration team and act as a stand-in when required.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management controls are implemented and maintained.
  • Assess, quality-control and authorise claims payments.
  • Provide accurate and informative feedback to clients and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure service level agreements are met and client expectations are effectively managed.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance client experience and support fair treatment of clients.
  • Promote a culture of exceptional client service, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with Treating Customers Fairly outcomes.
  • Encourage innovation, change agility and collaboration within the team.
  • Share information relating to successes, issues, trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support the development and growth of team members.

  • Maintain up-to-date professional, industry and legislative knowledge.

  • Identify and mitigate risks within the claims process.

  • Provide input into risk identification processes and communicate recommendations through appropriate forums.
  • Compile management, administration and board reports where required.
  • Attend and present reports at client and board meetings.
  • Resolve queries relating to finance, audit and actuarial functions.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12.
  • 6–8 years’ experience in Employee Benefits.
  • Knowledge and understanding of life insurance products and services.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Pension Funds Act.
  • Understanding of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.

Advantageous

  • 1–2 years’ leadership experience.
