No previous work experience is required, making this an ideal entry-level role. Successful candidates will receive the necessary training to perform laboratory duties while working in a professional and safety-focused environment.
Job Purpose
The Laboratory Assistant will support daily laboratory operations by preparing samples for analysis, operating laboratory equipment, performing basic testing procedures, maintaining laboratory cleanliness, and ensuring samples are handled according to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare samples by splitting, milling, drying, and processing them for analysis.
- Perform accurate and timely sample preparation.
- Scan routine samples using Near Infrared (NIR) instruments.
- Conduct basic laboratory tests, including moisture determination.
- Maintain sample retention storage areas and cold rooms.
- Handle laboratory waste according to company procedures.
- Wash and sanitize laboratory glassware and plasticware.
- Clean laboratory equipment and designated work areas.
- Ensure laboratory instruments are properly maintained and cleaned.
- Follow all laboratory quality assurance procedures.
- Comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Assist with additional laboratory duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Grade 12 (Matric).
Experience
- No previous experience required.
- Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Technical Skills
