About the Role

As a Merchandiser, you will play an important role in ensuring Clover products are consistently available, properly displayed, and presented according to company merchandising standards. You will work closely with store management and Clover’s Area Managers to maximise product visibility, improve stock availability, and support sales growth while maintaining excellent customer relationships.

The role requires regular visits to assigned stores, monitoring stock movement, implementing merchandising plans, and ensuring all promotional material is correctly displayed.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Grade 12 or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Business English.
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
  • Ability to travel between allocated retail stores if necessary.
  • Good understanding of retail merchandising principles will be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Control and Inventory Management

The successful candidate will:

  • Maintain accurate stock levels in allocated stores.
  • Monitor product availability and minimise out-of-stock situations.
  • Apply Clover’s stock control procedures in both sales and storage areas.
  • Process returns and claims according to company procedures.
  • Place accurate and timely replenishment orders.
  • Ensure products are rotated correctly to minimise waste and expired stock.
  • Monitor product quality and report damaged or expired products immediately.
  • Manage company crates and merchandising equipment according to policy.

Merchandising and Product Display

Responsibilities include:

  • Merchandise products according to approved shelf plans and planograms.
  • Ensure shelves remain fully stocked, clean, and attractive throughout trading hours.
  • Arrange products according to store flow and Clover merchandising standards.
  • Maintain refrigerators and chilled displays in good condition.
  • Ensure pricing labels and product information are always accurate.
  • Install and maintain promotional and point-of-sale material.
  • Maximise product visibility and shelf space opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product presentation and sales performance.

Customer and Relationship Management

You will also be responsible for:

  • Building positive relationships with store management.
  • Working closely with Clover Area Managers.
  • Maintaining professional relationships with Head Office representatives.
  • Providing excellent customer service.
  • Collaborating effectively with fellow merchandisers and retail staff.
  • Representing the Clover brand professionally at all times.
