The Road Accident Fund (RAF) provides timely and equitable assistance to individuals affected by motor vehicle accidents through the provision of social benefits aimed at promoting financial relief and recovery for qualifying claimants.
Purpose of the Role
The Paralegal (High Court) will provide legal, administrative, technical, and litigation support to attorneys. The successful candidate will assist with legal research, document preparation, case management, stakeholder engagement, and reporting functions.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Support and Litigation Assistance
- Conduct legal research for attorneys.
- Search and verify public records.
- Assist with interviewing clients and witnesses.
- Gather, retrieve, and analyse information relevant to litigation matters.
- Support trial preparation and court-related activities.
- Conduct legal analysis and research for reporting purposes.
Document Management
- Draft and prepare legal documents and arguments.
- Summarise depositions and legal records.
- Prepare briefs, pleadings, and discovery documentation.
- Manage and organise litigation files.
- Maintain and update file registers.
Reporting and Compliance
- Assist with the preparation of regulatory reports.
- Support the development of reporting systems.
- Provide regular progress reports and submissions.
- Contribute to management and performance reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Respond to information requests and legal inquiries.
- Support relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Ensure procurement-related documentation and payments are processed accordingly.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a legal environment.
