About the Role

The Driver (Packaged Distribution) will be responsible for the safe transportation and delivery of products and raw materials while supporting distribution operations as required. The position requires strict compliance with transportation regulations, dangerous goods handling procedures, and company safety standards.

This role is ideal for experienced heavy vehicle drivers who have worked in production or explosives environments and can operate independently while maintaining high safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport products and raw materials within the plant and to external destinations.
  • Operate trucks and transport equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with packaged distribution duties when required.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and report faults promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all dangerous goods transportation regulations.
  • Follow company SHERQ (Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality) standards.
  • Maintain accurate delivery documentation and records.
  • Adhere to occupational health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Work independently while maintaining operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
  • Valid Code 14 Driver’s License.
  • Valid Dangerous Goods Permit.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ truck or tractor driving experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a production environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience within an explosives environment.

Required Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Advanced truck driving skills in various road and weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods transportation requirements.
  • Understanding of safety and quality standards.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge (advantageous).
  • Fault-finding and troubleshooting abilities.
