Role Purpose
The Asset & Configuration Administrator is responsible for supporting the full lifecycle management of IT assets and configurations across the organisation. This role ensures accurate tracking of hardware and software assets, effective configuration management, and compliance with IT Service Management (ITSM) processes. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to optimise the use, governance, and control of IT resources.
Key Responsibilities
Asset & Configuration Management
- Ensure effective and efficient operation of Service Asset Management (SAM) and Configuration Management processes
- Implement and support Service Management and Configuration Management policies and standards
- Maintain accurate records within the Asset Management Database (AMDB) and/or Configuration Management System (CMS)
- Plan and manage the population of asset and configuration libraries, tools, common codes, and datasets
Process Integration & Governance
- Propose and manage interfaces with:
- Change Management
- Problem Management
- Release Management
- Network Management
- Computer Operations, Logistics, Finance, and Administration
- Monitor and control asset and configuration processes using defined KPIs
- Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce management reports, including:
- Asset and configuration status reports
- Impact analysis reports
- Compliance and audit reports
Tools & Technology Enablement
- Evaluate asset and configuration management tools and recommend solutions aligned to:
- Budget
- Resources
- Timelines
- Technical requirements
- Support continuous improvement by maximising alignment between people, process, and technology

Qualifications & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
- National Diploma in Information Technology or related field
- 1–2 years’ experience in:
- IT Asset Management
- Configuration Management
- Or a related IT administration role
- Experience working with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework (preferred)
