Job Purpose
To ensure the safe collection and delivery of goods, maintaining full compliance with company dispatch, loading, and proof-of-delivery (POD) procedures while upholding high standards of customer service and vehicle care.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Minimum 3 years delivery / driving experience
- Valid Driver’s License with PDP (Essential)
- Clean criminal record
- Strong communication skills
- Good time management ability
- Ability to work under pressure
- Honest, reliable, and disciplined work ethic
- Sober habits (non-negotiable)
Key Responsibilities
Vehicle & Delivery Operations
- Conduct full vehicle inspection before departure and upon return
- Report all vehicle defects before leaving the depot
- Follow all dispatch loading and parcel verification procedures
- Deliver goods accurately according to assigned route schedules and trip sheets
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure strict adherence to POD (Proof of Delivery) procedures
- Follow RFC procedures as required
- Submit all delivery documents, invoices, and collection slips correctly
- Sign off trip sheets daily with POD clerk
- Maintain accountability for all assigned documentation
Customer & Route Management
- Deliver parcels efficiently to customers along designated routes
- Ensure no unauthorized stock transfers between customer locations
- Maintain professional customer interaction at all times
Vehicle Care & Reporting
- Keep assigned vehicle clean and roadworthy
- Report mechanical or operational issues immediately
- Escalate delivery issues or POD challenges to dispatch supervisor
- Take responsibility for outstanding trip sheets and claims risk
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
- Zero missed or incorrect deliveries
- Full POD compliance (no outstanding documentation)
- Vehicle condition maintained to company standards
- Route adherence and timely deliveries
- Accurate trip sheet completion and submission
- Compliance with dispatch and loading procedures
