Job Purpose
As a First Officer, you will support flight operations as either a Second-in-Command Pilot (P2) or Cruise Relief Pilot (P3). Your role will focus on ensuring the safety and efficiency of flights, both on the ground and in the air, while complying with national and international aviation regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Captain in safe aircraft operation during all flight phases
- Maintain compliance with aviation regulations and airline procedures
- Monitor aircraft systems and operational performance
- Apply strict safety standards and operational procedures
- Work closely with crew members to ensure smooth flight operations
Required Qualifications
- Matric / Grade 12 / N3 or relevant SAQA-accredited qualification
- Compulsory subjects:
- Mathematics or Statistics
- English
- Physical Science or Computer Science
- Valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) or Commercial Pilot License with Frozen ATPL
- Multi-engine instrument rating
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1,500 total flying hours
- At least 200 hours on multi-engine aircraft
- South African citizen with a valid passport
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of aviation safety and operational standards
- Knowledge of international aviation bodies such as:
- (ICAO)
- (IATA)
- (FAA)
- (EASA)
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment
