Job Title: General Assistant (Electrical) x 4

REQUIREMENTS:

  • NQF 1 Qualification (Grade 9)
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools, electrical equipment and test instruments
  • Communication skills in at least two of the three languages of the Western Cape.
  • Key Performance Areas
  • Clearing of weeds and tree branches near electrical lines, 
  • transformers, and distribution kiosks.
  • Painting of transformers, mini substations, distribution kiosks and switching station buildings.
  • Digging of trenches, laying of cables, and planting of poles.
  • Clearing the terrain after completion of work.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of vehicles, electrical tools, 
  • electrical yard, buildings and own ablution facilities.
  • Report and prevent the misuse and theft of tools and 
  • equipment.
  • Assist with construction and maintenance of medium and low voltage electrical networks.
  • Assist with installations, termination, and connection of 
  • medium and low voltage electrical cables.
  • Assist with installation and maintain of medium and low volt transformers, street lights and electrical infrastructure.

  • Physical Requirement:
  • Physical and mentally strong, healthy and be able to lift 30kg weight. No fear 
  • of heights or confined spaces. No sight and hearing impaired and the ability to 
  • distinguish between colours. 

Special Conditions:

  • Candidates must be willing to submit themselves to a practical/skills test. It will 
  • be expected of the successful candidate to work overtime, perform standby 
  • duties and be willing to work outside designated area in all weather conditions. 
  • Due to operational requirements, candidates must reside in the area where the 
  • post is stationed or undertake to relocate to the place where the post is stationed 
  • within 30 days after been appointed. Candidates must provide a Medical Fitness 
  • Certificate with regard to construction regulations
