Position Purpose

The CAT Programme at Transnet is a three-year Learnership Programme for Candidates who have completed an accredited post-graduate qualification or equivalent.

The stringent requirement of SAICA demand that trainees receive extensive training in Financial Management, Management Decision making, Financial Accounting, Internal Audit & Corporate Governance, Auditing & Assurance and Taxation.

All new trainees will be trained and assessed in line with the SAICA CA 2025 framework which focuses on integrated thinking, digital acumen as well as integration between technical and professional competencies.

This also includes the professional values, attitudes and enabling competencies (acumens) such as Ethics, Citizenship, Lifelong Learning, Business Acumen, Decision making, Relational and Digital Acumen.

In Transnet, the trainees will be rotating to different functions in the head office and several of its operating divisions e.g. Transnet Freight Rail, Transnet Properties, Transnet Engineering etc.

The rotation will be tailored to meet the needs of the Trainee and the respective Operating Divisions, and in line with the minimum requirements as set in the Transnet SAICA Training Programme.

The Training Programme matches the range & depth of the required competencies as set out in the SAICA CA (SA) Competency Framework (2025).

Position Outputs

Qualifications and Experience:

The Minimum entry requirement is an accredited post- graduate qualification in Accounting Science or Financial Accounting programme. Current final year CTA students are also welcome to apply. Applications must be accompanied by a CV including certified copies of your Grade 12 certificate, Junior Degree Transcript, Degree, and Proof of final year CTA university registration.
