Job Title:

Driver (6-Month Fixed Term Contract)

Type:

Fixed Term (Temporary)

Main Purpose of the Job:

To provide a reliable and courteous transportation service to staff and participants with safety as a top priority; to provide a communication link between participants and staff; and to operate and maintain assigned vehicles.

Employment Equity:

Key Performance Areas

  • Transport study staff, documents, and specimens from local clinics to the site
  • Collect stock as required
  • Find participants who are “lost to follow-up” and provide reports
  • Fuel vehicles
  • Maintain a logbook for distance travelled and fuel consumption
  • Prepare accident and incident reports as necessary
  • Provide other services as requested by management when not engaged in transportation duties


Required Minimum Education and Training

  • Matric
  • Valid Driver’s Licence (Code B / Code 8) and PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) – mandatory
  • Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel) or willingness to learn
  • Dangerous Goods Licence to transport biological samples will be highly advantageous


Required Minimum Work Experience

  • 1–2 years’ experience working as a driver
